BOHEMIA, NY – January 2020 -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leading supplier of embedded computing solutions and power supplies, announces the availability of the VPX68 conduction-cooled, programmable, 400 Watt, 1.0″ Pitch 3U VPX power supply unit.
Ideally suited for rugged military and aerospace applications, the VPX68 provides up to 400 Watts of power (VITA 47 CC4 temperature range, full load) with six outputs and is compliant with MIL-STD-704A-F & MIL-STD-1275E.
Other features include integrated holdup time, remote error sensing and a built-in EMI filter compliant with MIL-STD-461F — all within a single slot 1.0″ pitch, 3U package. The VPX68 is designed to meet standard 3U VPX mechanical requirements and has VITA 62 compatible keying, outputs & signaling, user programmability, I2C communication, geographical addressing, IPMI-Dual PMBus, programmable over-temperature monitor, programmable voltage and current settings which optimize the power distribution between outputs and a five-state status LED.
“The VPX68 fulfills a unique requirement expressed by our customers by providing an input which accepts +28VDC (+16 to +60 VDC continuous) and provides 50 milliseconds of holdup time at 400 Watts within a VITA 62 compatible product while meeting stringent power requirements in a compact rugged COTS package,” states Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Many of today’s military systems rely heavily on high efficiency power supplies that can support OpenVPX requirements and withstand MIL-STD-704 as well as MIL-STD-1275E low and high voltage transients. The VPX68 is the latest in a complete line of NAI VPX power converters that support some of today’s most demanding system power requirements.”
NAI offers COTS and Modified COTS power supplies and power converters that plug directly into standard 3U and 6U VPX chassis and are conduction-cooled through the card edge/wedgelock. With their advanced design, these rugged converters accept either +28 VDC input, +270 VDC input or 3-phase, AC input. These off-the-shelf solutions for VITA 46.0 and VITA 65 systems are compatible with VPX specifications; support all VITA standard I/O, signals, and features; and conform to the VITA 62 mechanical and electrical requirements for modular power supplies.
