North Atlantic Industries Selected for Precision Tracking Resolver-to-Digital Converter for the M1 Abrams Tank

BOHEMIA, NY – February 2019 -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leading independent supplier of embedded electronic and computing systems, announces an initial contract award from General Dynamics Land Systems (GD) to provide a Resolver to Digital Converter (RDC), Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Mezzanine Card (PMC) (RDC PMC) for the Abrams M1A2 System Enhanced Package (SEP) Version 2 (V2) M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. The RDC PMC converts analog resolver sine and cosine analog signals to 32-bit digital words and provides the digitized positional and velocity data to the vehicle’s Fire Control System. The NAI 74SD5 embedded PCI mezzanine card was proposed and selected for the program. The 74SD5 met all the functional, environmental, reliability and performance requirements for the RDC PMC.

“For North Atlantic Industries, our selection as the RDC PMC supplier represents a major step forward in our efforts to develop advanced solutions for a multitude of land, sea or air platforms. Our core business is providing equipment for multiple types of sense and response applications.” states Lino Massafra, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for North Atlantic Industries. “The RDC PMC program will once again demonstrate and expand NAI’s ability to manage complex, diverse sense and response programs and enable our customers to take advantage of NAI’s innovative technology.”

All work will be performed at North Atlantic Industries’ Bohemia, NY facilities.
