North Atlantic Industries Announces 68PW1 3U OpenVPX Universal Motor Drive with Integrated Power Supply

BOHEMIA, NY – December 2020 -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leading supplier of embedded computing solutions and power supplies, announces the availability of the  68PW1 high efficiency, low EMI Brushed or Brushless (BLDC) pulse width modulated (PWM) motor drive. The 68PW1 is a PWM servo motor drive with configurable controls for current/torque, position and speed and has closed-looped feedback options including hall, synchro/resolver, absolute encoder (SPI, PWM), and incremental encoder. Communication schemes include trapezoidal (6-step) and sinusoidal.

68PW1 Key Features:

  • High efficiency, low EMI Brushed or Brushless (BLDC) PWM motor drive.
  • Configurable control: current/torque, position, speed
  • Closed-loop Feedback options: hall, synchro/resolver, absolute encoder (SPI, PWM), incremental encoder
  • 16 – 65 VDC input with programmable output voltage range 5 – 65 VDC
  • Commutation schemes: trapezoidal (6-step), sinusoidal
  • Form factor: 3U VPX 1.0" pitch

The 68PW1 provides programmable, PWM output drive (up to 65 V @ 10 A continuous) from a single +28 VDC input source and Drives Brushed or Brushless (BLDC) motors. Library software support kit source code supplied free of charge for Linux, Wind River® VxWorks® and DDC-I Deos™. Specifically designed for rugged defense, industrial, and commercial applications with a -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range, the 68PW1 delivers a COTS solution that accelerates deployment of SWaP-optimized air, land, and sea systems.

“The 68PW1 uses state of the art, high efficiency, Low EMI techniques to provide up to 65 VDC PWM output, at up to 10 A, for commercial, industrial and military embedded motor control applications.” said Wayne Grandner, Dir of Research and Development at NAI.
