79G5P
TTE Time-Triggered Ethernet / ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX®) / IEEE 802.3, Development Board
The 79G5P-TE2C0 is a full-height, half-length, PCIe board fitted & configured with the NAI TE2 function module. The TE2 is a single-channel, tri-redundant, Ethernet communications interface module that supports three traffic classes: Time-Triggered Ethernet SAE AS6802 (TTEthernet™), ARINC 664 Part 7 and Avionics Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet (AFDX®) and IEEE 802.3 protocol. By supporting all three traffic classes, NAI's TE2 is the ideal solution for current users of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, who plan to upgrade to Deterministic Ethernet ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX) or TTEthernet protocols in the future. Upgrade to either ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX) or TTEthernet support at any time without changing hardware.
The 79G5P-TE2 board is uniquely configured to provide the TE2 functionality on a standard PCIe form factor board, for quick-start development, in a standard motherboard or computer systems backplane with a PCIe bus interface. The TE2 function operates as an end system node. Additionally, the 79G5P can be configured to support the EM1 dual-port GbE Network Interface Controller (NIC) communications function module – see part number designation and contact factory for other configurations.

Both ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX) and TTE provide time & safety-critical, data transmission and receipt through a single-channel, tri-redundant interface Ethernet module that can be optimized for specific applications. The major features of ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX) and TTE are listed below.
ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX) | TTE | |
---|---|---|
Transmission | Asynchronous | Synchronous |
Jitter | Less than 500 μs | Less than 1 μs |
Latency (typical) | 1-10 ms | Less than 100 μs, at 12.5 us/switch |
Communication | PCIe Gen II (5.0 Gbps) Endpoint |
Protocols: | SAE AS6802 TTEthernet; ARINC 664 Part 7 (AFDX); IEEE 802.3 |
